The Captain is back to Haven !
Hello everyone !
I’m back in here ! Let’s go !
The Website
As you may have noticed, the website just had a big update ! I made a brand new repo and switched from vanilla HTML/CSS/JS to Jekyll, which is a static site generator. I also made a new design for the website, as well as brand new pages for current projects and posts, which I hope you’ll like !
There may be more coming soon, so you’re warned !
School
I’m doing fine, continuing the second year. I’m currently learning a lot about web development, and also about Docker and Containers in general, which is really interesting. I also have a lot of fun doing it, which is great !
I have a few critics regarding how the school is organized and how they teach us some subjects. They drop us directly into projects, which is really nice, but they don’t really give us a lot of guidance on how to do it and how to use the tools with which we work, and that can be really annoying when you’re trying to learn something new and especially when the goal at the end is to be a professional in the field. But overall, I’m really enjoying it and I’m learning a lot, so I can’t complain too much !
I does make me want to do more on the side, including…
Haven

Introducing Haven - a personal project of mine that has been kind of an obsession recently. It’s a Linux Operating System that I want to be as user-friendly as possible. I want it to be a great choice for people who wants a system that just works and that doesn’t require a lot of technical knowledge to use (like my parents).
More technically, it’s based on Fedora-Bootc, with the CachyOS Kernel and a customized Gnome desktop. It will also come with the same software management as Bazzite or Bluefin - so Homebrew for terminal applications and Bazaar (Flatpak) for desktop applications. It will also feature automatic system updates, so you won’t have to worry about keeping your system up to date!
I will also try to implement a way to manage system extensions, for Docker especially.
It’s still very much experimental, and the current project featured on Github is a previous attempt based on Arch Linux. But I’m really excited about it and I hope I’ll be able to share an .iso so you can try it soon !
We’ll meet again…
… don’t know when, don’t know where, but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day !
Take care of yourself and see you very soon !
